Florian A. Schneider, PhD.
Florian is the Senior Research Advisor for Third Way’s Climate & Energy Program and the Carbon-Free Europe Initiative. He uses his strong academic, sustainability, and climate background across multiple areas to serve as honest broker. He creates data-driven solutions for short- and long-term net-zero goals and climate policies. The outcomes of his work enable governments in Europe and the US to build reliable, affordable, secure, and clean energy systems.
Florian’s career in climate science and policy began in Leipzig, Germany, where he studied meteorology and atmospheric science during his BS and MS. A job in affiliation with the European Space Agency to gather relevant climate data using satellites followed. Most recently Florian pursued his Ph.D. in Sustainability at Arizona State University studying sustainable and fair heat mitigation. His studies included the science-policy interface between academics, city officials, and the public.
Throughout his career, Florian studied and worked in Germany, Norway, Hong Kong, and the US to understand different phenomena and systems. Florian is a reliable voice on topics around climate change, urban sustainability, sustainable development, the urban and Arctic climate, dust storms, extreme heat, energy systems, and energy transition.
